Another study looked at people with and without lung cancer and found that those who ate the most plant sterols in their diet had a 50% less chance of getting lung cancer than those who ate the least (Lung Cancer 1998). Still other studies have suggested that plant sterols can protect against colon and prostate cancer. One study found beta-sitosterol could reduce the growth of prostate cancer cells cultured in a laboratory and increased their tendency to safely self-destruct (Nutr-Cancer 1998).
Athletes and Exercise

Also, while inflammation and stress went up in the athletes on a placebo, they went down in the marathoners on sterols and sterolins.
