Naturopathy
Naturopathy is a healing art that is concerned with discovering and removing the root cause of disease whether it be chemical, mechanical, or psychological. It works on the principle that healing depends upon the action of natural healing forces present in the human body. An ND (Naturopathic Doctor) makes use of a variety of natural healing modalities such as herbology, homeopathy, and acupuncture.
Acupressure
Definition & History: Acupressure is an ancient healing art and science of alleviating health problems based on traditional Japanese and Chinese medicine and developed 5000 years ago. Acupressure is a branch of alternative medicine where a diagnosis, prevention and cure to ailments are done through the touch of a doctor’s hand or by application of pressure by the doctor on the surface of the patient’s body. Acupressure is a traditional mode of treatment where a cure to an ailment develops without the need of taking pharmaceutical agents. This prevents any side effects often associated with conventional drugs. Acupressure is similar to acupuncture because it treats blockages of energy at specific points along fourteen meridians, or channels, along the body. While acupuncture uses needles placed at strategic points along the meridians, acupressure utilizes manual pressure. The practitioner uses fingers, hands and elbows to put pressure on the specific points in order to relieve pain and discomfort, prevent tension-related ailments, and promote good health.

Acupuncture
Definition: Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese therapy that is used to balance and stimulate the body’s nervous, immune and circulatory systems. The method by which this is accomplished is by inserting very fine needles into carefully selected points to enhance the body’s self-healing energy. The intent of acupuncture therapy is to promote health and alleviate pain and suffering. The perspective from which an acupuncturist views health and sickness hinges on concepts of "vital energy," "energetic balance" and "energetic imbalance." Just as the Western medical doctor monitors the blood flowing through blood vessels and the messages traveling via the nervous system, the acupuncturist assesses the flow and distribution of this "vital energy" within its pathways, known as "meridians and channels".

Ayurvedic Medicine
Definition & History: Ayurvedic medicine is a holistic system of healing that originated in ancient India. The concept of Ayurvedic medicine is practiced as eight major clinical sub-specialties, with other numerous adjunctive specialties. These eight sub-specialties include: internal medicine, general surgery, otorhinolaryngology, pediatrics & obstetric/gynecology, psychiatry, toxicology, nutrition-detoxification-rejuvenation and fertility/virility. Modern Ayurveda will include other adjunctive specialties such as preventative healthcare, addiction treatment, and weight loss approaches. Ayurvedic Medicine, the oldest form of healing known, translates literally to "the science of life"; it is refered to as the "Mother of All Medicine". Since it encompasses the spirit and soul with strong focus on dietary and lifestyle choices, it is much more than a medical science. It is recognized by the World Health Organization as an effective health science.
